We support two Wild Cards in our search: The question mark (?) and the asterisk (*). Both can be used at the end or in the middle of the word.
The question mark replaces one character in a word, telling the system to return any results that contain any words that might be the complete version of your word. For example, searching “Davi?” will return results containing words like “Davis,” “David,” and “Davin.” “Sm?th” will return Smith or Smyth.
The asterisk replaces one letter in a word, but unlike the question mark, can stand in for more than just that letter. The system will return any words that might be the complete version of that word, no matter how long they are. For example, searching “Davi*” will return results containing words like “Davis” and “David” as well as “Davidson” and “Daville.”
